Highlights from My January 2010 trip to Namibia

or just close this page.....
In general , Namibia is a safe place. But
the electric fences and warning signs let
you know that this is a different kind of
place. Between this and the pizza menu,
you know you're not in Kansas any more !
A long road takes us to our Base Camp:
BRANDBERG REST CAMP in Uis, Namibia.
( This place recieves our highest
recomendation).
Basil Kalitz , Brandberg Rest Camp Owner , takes
us on a sundowner at the abandoned tin mine in Uis.
You'd think the sunset would be the highlight , but
no, the real climax is the 4wd drive trip after. I won't
spoil the surprise and say any more........
One of the things we did was visit
the messum crater.
we also visited the Brandberg area.
Not much to see in
Tubussis other than
this 'LOVE SHACK".
Crystal Market in
USAKOS, NAMIBIA
We stayed in karibib at Albrechtshohe and looked at some tourmaline mines.
|
While investigating the Erongo
aquamarine deposits we stayed at
the HOHENSTEIN LODGE. While
the accomodations were elegant,
when they shut the generators off
at night , the place was way too hot
not to have at least a fan. AVOID.
I spotted a guy digging and hollered untill he came down to talk to us !

No stop in Windhoek is complete without some paperwork at the ministry . And you must try the Zebra at Joe's Beerhouse !
