The old abandoned rock shops in Ball Ground,
Georgia used to be owned by Oscar Robertson
and he collected and sold many staurolite crystals,
aka Fairy  Crosses or Cross Rocks.

I rode by today, Dec. 14, 2013 to see
what was shaking in Ball Ground.  I
wanted to take some pictures of the
store front.  Unfortunately it was
cloudy, misting rain, and the windows
were a bit dusty on both sides, inside
and out.  I still managed to take some
interesting and artistic pictures.
The old abandoned buildings are a bit
creepy with very old hand carved idols
and religous symbols of foreign
cultures.
One thing that was interesting to see
was the huge Hogg Mine aquamarine
and rose quartz on display. I'm pretty
sure the small aquamarine crystal is
from Brazil and of course the huge
aquamarine crystal is from the Hogg
Mine in LaGrange, Georgia.
One thing Oscar Roberston really liked
was the staurolite crystals found on his
land.  He had many of them on display
and they still remain even to this day.
To the left is seen an aquamarine
crystal in kaolin from the Hogg Mine.
There were many containers, jars and
vessels with all manner of stones to be
seen.
